Can I get a Medical Marijuana Card for my child in California?
Minors under 18 can get a California medical marijuana recommendation with consent from a parent or legal guardian who will serve as a caregiver.
An online consultation with a Leafwell physician for minors costs $99, which includes a 1-year recommendation (hardcopy and digital) and a physician-issued Leafwell patient ID card.
After getting approved by a physician, the primary caregiver can apply to the state for a Medical Marijuana Identification Card (MMIC), which is optional.
Minors may apply for an MMIC as qualified patients if they are lawfully emancipated or have declared self-sufficiency status. If a minor does not have self-sufficient status or has not been emancipated, the county program must contact the minor's parent, legal guardian, or person with legal authority to make medical decisions for them.
