How often do I need to renew my Ohio Medical Marijuana Card?

Ohio medical marijuana certificates are valid for one year and can be renewed online.

A renewal consultation with Leafwell costs $99, and you'll only be charged if approved. Plus, when you use Leafwell to renew your certificate, we'll send you a reminder email one month before your card is due to expire to make sure you avoid a lapse in coverage.

Here's a summary of the renewal process:

1. Sign in to Leafwell, or if you’re new to Leafwell, register as a renewal patient here.
2. Speak to an Ohio-licensed provider online.
3. Get approved and your recommendation will be submitted to the Ohio Registry within 48 business hours. As a renewal, you will NOT receive an email alert instructing you to proceed.
4. Log into the Ohio Medical Marijuana Registry and click the ‘Renew Card’ button.
5. Complete the renewal registration and pay the state’s $0.01 fee.* After payment is submitted, your new registry card will be available to download.

*The Ohio Division of Cannabis Control is taking steps to eliminate its $50 state fee! However, a nominal fee of $0.01 will be charged to patients while implementing the required software changes.
