Can I be/have a caregiver for a medical marijuana patient in Texas?
Yes, medical marijuana patients in Texas may have a caregiver. Caregivers must be entered into the Compassionate Use Registry of Texas (CURT) by the patient's certifying physician.
Caregiver Requirements:
-
At least 18 years of age.
-
Patients must be permanent Texas residents.
-
Caregivers and parents/legal guardians will be required to show proof of identification to the dispensing organization.
Here's how the caregiver process works:
-
Provide full name and last 5 digits of social security number to the physician.
-
The physician will enter this information alongside the patient’s while registering them with CURT.
-
The caregiver must show proof of ID as well as the patient’s last name, date of birth, and last 5 digits of their social security number when purchasing medicine at the dispensary.
